‍Vignette for the highway
‍For the use of Austrian highways it is prescribed to buy a toll sticker obtainable in post offices, Tabak Trafiken (newspaper stores), gas stations or banks. The annual Vignette is valid for 14 months from 1^st December to 31^st January. Driving on the highway without a vignette entails a penalty toll of 120 Euro and – if not paid right away – a fine of 300 to 3.000 Euro.

Winter tires
‍Between 1st November and 15th April there is a obligation to use winter tires on cars and trucks. Violating this obligation entails a fee of 35 to 5.000 Euro, in case of an accident prosecution and non-performance of the insurance.

Parking in short-term parking zones
All parking areas in the inner city are short-term parking zones where you are allowed to park three hours - with or without fee. If there are parking meters it means you have to pay by inserting coins or use your credit/debit card. In areas without parking meters you have to place a parking clock behind your windshield displaying your arrival time. Permanent parking tickets for residents are available at the municipal authorities (Magistrat).

Pedestrian Area “Old Town”
The World Heritage “Old Town of Salzburg” is a pedestrian area. Retractable bollards prevent the entry for cars. Special permissions and remote controls for residents, shop owners and people with disabilities are available at the municipal authorities (Magistrat).
